Nebraska – ranked 6th in wind potential and 2nd in agriculture - is a great location to explore renewable energy.
NPPD and its wholesale utility partners have received a number of inquiries regarding our end-use customers’ interest in installing small, renewable energy projects (such as wind turbines), as well as cogeneration and generating units using waste heat recovery. The development of such resources complements NPPD’s goal of acquiring 10% of its energy needs from renewable resources by the year 2020.
Due to its successful Request For Proposals (RFP) process for developing power purchase agreements from large wind energy facilities, NPPD is taking that same approach to acquire renewable energy from small renewable energy projects and those that qualify as Public Utility Regulatory Policy Act (PURPA) facilities.
This RFP process, coordinated with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant program, gives customers a competitive opportunity to propose viable projects and possibly sell the resulting renewable energy and the associated environmental attributes to utilities.
To get started, follow the steps below.
Step 1: View the Participating Utilities & Contacts information
Step 2: Review the Request for Proposal
(Note: New proposal to be issued February 15, 2010.)
Step 3: If interested, contact your participating utility for further discussion
